This is a big deal. Louvre Abu Dhabi’s first exhibition launches this week. From December 21 until April 7, 2018, From One Louvre to Another will be on display at the Saadiyat Island gallery.

The museum’s first temporary exhibition tells the story of the French original, from the royal collections of Louis XIV in the palace, apartments and gardens of Versailles to the artists’ studios in the Louvre in Paris and the eventual opening of the building as a museum following the French Revolution.

There will be 150 pieces from the Château de Versailles and sculptures, paintings, furniture and ceramics from around the world on loan from Musée de Louvre.

It is curated by Jean-Luc Martinez, president of Musée de Louvre, and Juliette Trey, curator of 17th and 18th century drawings and prints, and will give people the chance to discover the origins of the artistic institution.

Admission is part of the day ticket price. From Dhs30. Louvre Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat Island (600 565 566).
