The most romantic day of the year is almost upon us and, depending on how your preparations are going, your heart will either be racing with excitement or you’ll have a fair few palpitations as you bid to create the perfect evening for your other half. Thankfully, we live in a city filled with top-class restaurants, relaxing spas and superb staycation spots, so there is no reason why cupid’s arrow should ever miss the mark. 55&5th, The Grill
This sleek steakhouse is a prime spot for your romantic evening. Housed in the swanky St.Regis Saadiyat Island, this signature restaurant will be going all out on February 14, so prepared to be wowed. The evening will start with a bubbly mixed drink and canapés on arrival, before you tuck into a delectable four-course menu, enhanced by live entertainment from the resident jazz band.

99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant
It’s not easy to stand out among the world-class roster of restaurants on Al Maryah Island, but this super stylish restaurant does so with ease. Booking a table at the winner of our Best Newcomer gong at the recent Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards for your Valentine’s Day date is a wise choice indeed. The Japanese joint (brought to Abu Dhabi by way of Spain) will be serving up a nine-course offering crammed with many of 99 Sushi’s very best flavours.

Aqua
Finding the time for a romantic meal isn’t easy when you have a family to think of, even on Valentine’s Day. Thankfully, the team at this international eatery has got you covered.

The little ones can let off some steam at the Rose Buds Children’s Club while mum and dad enjoy some quality time. The chilled-out venue will be serving up a barbecue buffet with dessert to share.

Azura Lounge
Shout your love from the rooftop! Well, actually, just enjoy a nice meal there instead. The St. Regis Abu Dhabi’s intimate rooftop lounge is offering a beautiful dining experience under the stars. Soak up the panoramic views over the corniche while you enjoy a four-course menu of Arabic grills and other classic tastes. This is a chilled-out option.

BBQ Al Qasr
An enchanting evening awaits in the grand surroundings of the five-star Emirates Palace. BBQ Al Qasr, with its idyllic seaside location, is pretty romantic at the best of times – so imagine what it will be like come February 14.

BBQ Al Qasr beach
Or, you could move it onto the beach... Make the evening really sizzle by enjoying a sunset soirée besides the pristine white sands of the five-star hotel’s beach. A picnic basket crammed with enough goodies for two, plus live music and two glasses of bubbles will make this a day you’ll never forget.

Belgian Café

If you are partial to a taste of Thailand, you can’t go far wrong with Benjarong.

The Dusit Thani restaurant will be laying on a five-course set menu for a celebratory evening. As well as quality Thai cuisine, diners will get a free glass of bubbly and ladies will receive a red rose.

BiCE
Make a dinner date at one of the capital’s most exclusive addresses. Italian favourite BiCE, based in the heart of the lavish Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, is cooking up a three-course set menu, including a glass of pink bubbly as a generous welcome.

What about Italian, French or maybe a steak? If you are not sure what to plump for then how about a little bit of everything? BOA Steakhouse

This superb steakhouse is a feast for the eyes – as well as the stomach. Enjoy striking views of the Eastern Mangroves from the outdoor terrace or enjoy the special five-course set menu from the vibrant dining area. Guests will also be handed a glass of French bubbly on arrival. Cheers!

Bocca
Transport your taste buds to Italy for a feast full of authentic charm. For Valentine’s Day, chef de cuisine Leonardo Passone has prepared a special three-course set menu, featuring delights such as marinated salmon and swordfish, plus pan-fried monk fish fillet and a crunchy chocolate mousse topped with raspberries and hazelnut ice-cream for dessert.

Bord Eau
Make a French connection at this fine-dining favourite. The talented kitchen team will be crafting a five-course dinner, featuring delectable dishes such as Scottish scallops and lemongrass, freshly caught northern seas halibut and Brillat-Savarin, a soft, white-crusted milk cheese triple-cream brie from Normandy. The superb food and elegant setting, will make this a date night to remember.

Bu!
Celebrate ‘Bu!’ love at this lively Pan-Latin venue. The chilled-out restaurant and bar will be presenting a four-course menu for two featuring a whole host of superb flavours, including oysters, sashimi, nigiri, soft tacos and anticuchos, plus mouth-watering main courses such as pescado al grill and cazuala trufada and the signature dessert you just have to try, the piñata. Butcher & Still
Take a trip back in time to this 1920s inspired Chicago-style steakhouse. A flavour-packed three-course menu awaits, with chef Marshall Roth offering up a varied selection of dishes, such as caviar, grilled Boston Bay scallops with butternut squash, beef wellington and line-caught sea bass with cockles and a roast pepper jus. Of course you’ll also care to share when it comes to the finale of red velvet cake with chocolate fondue and strawberries.

Café 302
Do Valentine’s Day your way at this trendy café. The three-course set menu can be enjoyed from noon through to evening and has been crafted by the venue’s expert kitchen team. Enjoy artfully presented dishes made from the heart on this special day.

Cafe Milano
Fall in love with one of the most fashionable spots in the city on Valentine’s Day in the space of five courses. The stylish menu includes an appetiser of fried oyster with braised shallots and raspberry vinegar, a heart-shaped ravioli with lobster and a roasted rack of lamb. Caramel Restaurant & Lounge
Hop over to the luxurious St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort for a picture-perfect evening out. Chilled-out Caramel is a great place to unwind in while savouring a four-course menu, which includes a choice of mains. You will also get a glass of bubbly as you arrive.

Catch
You might already think you’re a great catch (well, don’t we all?) but this could just prove it. Treat your better half to a romantic three-course dinner at this beautiful seafood spot and you will be able to keep them hooked for a little while longer at least. Soak up stunning waterfront views while enjoying some of the freshest flavours in town.

Cipriani
Take a romantic stroll down to the beautiful Yas Marina for a sophisticated Valentine’s Day date at refined Italian favourite Cipriani. The classy spot will be presenting a special set menu for the occasion. Settle down at a candle-lit table for two as you tuck into a four-course menu of traditional Italian dishes while being serenaded by a talented classical musician. There will also be roses for the ladies, too. The set menu includes terrific dishes such as fresh burratina with tomatoes and olives, roasted veal shoulder with chestnut sauce and mashed potato and a delightful dessert of Cipriani chocolate heart with strawberries and vanilla sauce. Filini Garden
All will be rosy in the garden come Valentines’ Day. Romance can really bloom at this cool alfresco eatery, which will be cooking up a four-course menu from chef Federico. Start off with buttery scallops and red shrimps, followed by beetroot ravioli with smoked ricotta, capped off with main course options of marinated slow roast duck or herb-infused pan-seared black cod fillet and a dessert of creamy raspberry cheesecake and passion fruit crumble. Dine under the stars as soulful jazz music provides a lovely soundtrack to your evening. A red rose will be waiting for the ladies, plus a welcome glass of sparkling for both of you.

Hoi An
Vibrant Vietnamese is served with a dash of French flair, making for a recipe for success. The one-night-only Valentine’s meal includes mixed seafood soup and choices of lemongrass-marinated rack of lamb and steamed sea bass, before the evening is topped off with the mysterious Chef’s Special Dessert. It’s a secret you’ll be eager to uncover.

Jazz Bar & Dining

La Mamma

La Petite Maison
It may seem a bit of a sweeping generalisation, but in this case we don’t think the French will mind us saying they are experts in this whole romance thing. So, for a real swoon-inducing evening, we reckon you could do a lot worse than booking in at La Petite Maison. The fancy fine-dining venue, which has been winning hearts all over the city since launching late last year, is a great option for the most important date night of the year. Treat your beloved to specially crafted dishes, many of which are made to share, including caviar, lobster and oysters, followed up with decadent desserts, all served up in a swanky setting befitting of the occasion, including a beautiful outdoor terrace with gorgeous views of the city skyline.

Le Meridien Abu Dhabi
This looks like something well worth ticking off your culinary bucket (and spade) list. Enjoy a romantic dinner on the hotel’s beach, looking up at the twinkling stars. Enjoy top class service from dedicated staff while you savour a flavoursome menu, including oyster ceviche, mini skewers of chicken, beef and shrimps, which you cook to your liking on the fire pit, and chocolate and passion fruit mousse.

Li Beirut

Lovers of Lebanese food can plot a course (or three) for this chic restaurant. Diners are invited to sample a three-course menu of authentic favourites, accompanied by a glass of pink bubbly.

Li Jiang
Add a Far-Eastern flavour to your evening at this vibrant Southeast Asian restaurant. Whet your appetite for the culinary journey ahead, with appetisers of pan-seared scallops, crab, avocado, wasabi mayonnaise and homemade chilli tomato, followed by starters of foie gras dumpling with creamy shimeji mushroom, Thai basil and bok choy. Main course dishes consist of wok-fried lobster, wagyu beef in pepper sauce and seafood fried rice, while you can end the evening in style with a Tiny Pavlova dessert, with berry tartlets and macaroons. The venue’s pretty outdoor terrace also affords stunning views of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, offering an added ambience.

Mai Café
Love will be in the air at this cosy terrace venue, nestled next to the pool. Enjoy an intimate three course meal al fresco style.
If that doesn’t warm your hearts enough, heaters and blankets will be provided so the evening never cools down too much. If you book quickly, you might be in time to secure one of six couples’ cabanas available.

Mijana
Enchant your dining partner with a terrific taste of Arabia. Authentic favourites are served with a modern twist, including hummus with cranberry and labneh with truffle oil, before shareable dishes such as lobster and shrimp kibbeh and almond and hazelnut falafel are brought to the table, followed by a traditional Arabic mixed grill and a Kubid Delicatessen for dessert – a red choux pastry case filled with apricot purée and caramel mascarpone cream, with a pistachio crust.

Observation Deck at 300
Now this really is a high tea. February 14 is one day of the year that guests dining at Observation Deck at 300, up on the 74th floor of the glittering Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, makes more sense than usual. Take the afternoon tea tradition to new heights with a delectable menu for two. Fabulous food and incredible views are on offer.

Pappagallo
Take a romantic stroll through the scenic walkways and picturesque gardens of The Village before taking your seat for dinner at this Italian mainstay. A three-course meal is all well and good, but it is Valentine’s Day after all, so how about six of the best? The extensive menu at Shang Palace will charm seafood fans, with lovely options such as Boston lobster dumplings, silver cod fish fillet and stir-fried gulf king prawn. Solarium at Rosewood Abu Dhabi
The secluded outdoor space at the plush Rosewood Abu Dhabi will be playing host to an exclusive dining experience. This beautiful beachfront restaurant is renowned as one of the most romantic spots in the city (in fact, we gave it an award to say so) so there’s no better day to check it out. The Thai favourite will be presenting a fantastic four-course menu in a stunning setting, complete with floating pavilions overlooking turquoise waters.

Spaccanapoli
The restaurant name might be a bit of a mouthful, but they speak the language of love at Spaccanapoli. A special four-course menu has been created for the day, featuring palate pleasers such as pink fettuccine with shrimp, bottarga and cherry tomatoes, main course options of dusted porcini beef fillet with sautéed red spinach and shallot confit and lemon and mint risotto with caviar tomatoes, followed by an irresistible red velvet cheesecake.

Stratos
If your world revolves around your significant other, this is the place to take them. Enjoy a three-course sharing menu at this upscale rotating restaurant, while taking in stunning 360-degree views of the city skyline. DJ Lola Nova will provide the entertainment which each lady will also be presented with a rose. Even if you can’t make it on February 14 itself (or just want to double up on the fun), the romantic meal will also be served up the following day at this popular venue.

Tamba
Whether you are in the mood for love or not, Tamba is sure to steal your heart. A deserved winner of the Best Indian accolade at the recent Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards, the always innovative eatery offers its guests the kind of experience you’ll be happy to share with another. The vibrant à la carte offerings will be served up, featuring a host of Indian classics cooked with a modern twist. You can round off the evening with a selection of delicious desserts, including the theatrically-presented chocolate treat, The Break-Up. Of course we’re hoping it’s the only break-up on the cards that night. The Capital Grill

On the hunt for a night out that is a cut above the rest? Sophisticated steakhouse, The Capital Grill, will be treating diners to
a five-course dinner in a setting where the romantic vibes never fade. Guests will also receive a complimentary glass of bubbly and a red rose for the ladies.

The Forge
Enjoy all the glitz of The Ritz on Valentine’s Day at this upmarket steakhouse. Don’t worry, either, if your better half’s dream date doesn’t involve a juicy slab of beef, as there is plenty to sink your teeth into on the menu. Kick off an indulgent meal with 30g of caviar served on a blini with sour cream, followed by a middle course of tuna with smoke raspberry habanero sauce, pickled onions, hibiscus flower and red cabbage purée and a delicious main course of bone-in striploin and lobster with purple mashed potato and asparagus and Béarnaise sauce. A beautiful meal is capped off with Cupid Delicatessen, a decadent red choux pastry case filled with caramelised mango purée and caramel mascarpone cream. To be honest, even if we don’t want have a date lined up, we are tempted to come along anyway.

The Foundry
The ever-popular steakhouse will be bringing together brilliant cuts of meat and superb seafood in a shareable menu, rounded off by a gorgeous dessert buffet inspired by Willy Wonka. You will feel like you’ve won the golden ticket after this culinary experience.

The Grill
Your Valentine’s Day plans are about to heat up at one of the city’s top steakhouses. A juicy set menu of prime cuts and other tasty treats will be served up, while guests will also be handed two complimentary glasses of grape at the classy Couture Lounge bar in the hotel after their dinner to keep the evening in full flow.

The Terrace on the Corniche

The St. Regis Abu Dhabi’s signature all-day dining restaurant will be a huge hit with seafood lovers. Fresh oysters will be opened and served on your table, which will be decorated with roses.

Twelve and Relax@12
If the only way is up for your relationship (this is the time of the year to be optimistic) then ascend to the rooftop of Aloft Abu Dhabi to celebrate the big day. Sleek lounge Twelve and its outdoor partner, Relax@12 are getting into the spirit of things with a fun-packed night featuring live DJs, sushi bites and brilliant views, plus a three-course set menu with bubbly and roses for the ladies.

Vasco’s
Named after the intrepid traveller Vasco da Gama, this international eatery will be inviting diners on an international tasting tour on February 14. Whether you dine inside or enjoy an alfresco evening with great views of the Arabian Gulf, you can savour global flavours as part of a four-course menu.

Villa Toscana
