Mini motoring maestros can enjoy a thrilling day out at the track – as Al Maryah Island gets geared up for the huge F1 weekend.

Retail hub, The Galleria, will be out of the starting blocks early with a huge three-day race-themed event taking place from Thursday, November 16 until Saturday, November 18 – a week before the F1 stars take over the city.

Wannabe Lewis Hamiltons and Sebastian Vettels will be handed driving lessons before being taken for a spin on the spectacular waterfront promenade for their very own driving test.

Diminutive drivers aged between 4 and 11 can take part in the fun experience and get the chance to meet two racing starlets, speedy sisters Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi, aged just 17 and 15.

The trail-blazing teenagers, who have already won a clutch of awards and smashed records on the junior racing circuits, will be passing on top tips to the young drivers.

A dedicated children’s arts and crafts area will also be set up for kids to boast their creative skills with clay car moulding, mug drawing and painting, and car-themed colouring.

On Thursday, November 16, from 5pm till 8pm, Amna and Hamda will start their engines with the little ones, giving them a jump start on mastering their racing skills.

Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi commented: "We are honoured to be part of The Galleria's Children's Driving School. Such initiatives help young and aspiring drivers understand the importance of following traffic rules in a fun way. Giving children driving tips is a big reward for us; it makes us feel extremely happy when we see the smiles on their faces.

“We encourage drivers to follow traffic rules for both their own and public safety. Thus, this initiative is aimed at engaging the Abu Dhabi community and the UAE as a whole in a fun and engaging way. With this initiative, we hope to act as role models for the younger generation of drivers, both current and those aspiring to take up driving in the future.”

Charles Martinez, General Manager of The Galleria, said: “Our primary focus is to create offerings for all the family to enjoy
during their visits to The Galleria. We are thrilled to offer the children’s driving track experience and to be engaging with young role models such as, the Amna and Hamda Al Qubaisi sisters during the Formula 1 period.”

Children will be briefed on road safety and will be given a lesson on road signals and signs before putting their four-wheel theory to practice on the dedicated paddle car driving test.

All participants will take home their very own driving certificate from The Galleria after revving their mini-engines on the specialised circuit.
