The Terry Fox Run will return to Abu Dhabi next year for its 21st edition.

Pre-registration for the event is now open and if you participated in the 2016 and 2017 editions of the race, your registration from those years is still valid.

The annual charity run attracts people of all ages and backgrounds and raises funds for cancer research.

The 8.5km run is organised in honour of late Canadian athlete Terry Fox who lost his leg in a battle with cancer when he was 18 years old.

The teenager made headlines when he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.

The route for this year’s race will start at the East Plaza on the Corniche before turning towards Al Sahil beach, and Mina Zayed Port and finishing back at the starting point.

Speaking about the race in Abu Dhabi, Judith Fox, Terry sister said, “Abu Dhabi has the largest number of participants in one location around the world and I am filled with pride and gratitude that my brother’s legacy continues in countries far removed our own.

“With every Terry Fox Run, more funds are raised for cancer research and we come closer to eradicating a disease that touches the whole global community.”
